The following are changes to this year's 2018 Klondike Derby:

  • Each patrol will need to have materials to make a bird’s nest and tinder for a 12"fire lay. (Only the amount of Materials that can fit in a plastic “sandwich bag” may be used. No “treated” wood.)
  • Minimum of 2 Flint and Steel sets per sledge. No matches will be given out and are not to be used for fire building event
  • Make sure the Patrol flag is removable from the sled as it will be required to be used at one of the events and points will be deducted if the patrol is not able to use the patrol flag
  • Patrols will be required to lift and tie their sled to ropes for an event. Please make sure that all items are secured on the sled and the Patrols can lift their sled
  • Bucket will be provided to put the ashes in from the fire. The bucket must be placed on the path leading to your camp site when you leave
